New WEO Executive Director

Marcel Ewals
Executive Director (WEO)
  Marcel Ewals has been appointed as the Executive Director of World Events Organisation (WEO). A veteran in the Asian trade show industry for the last 18 years, he is concurrently Managing Director of AsiaCongress Events, which has offices located in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. He has been a Council Member of WEO since 2003 and also sits in IAEE’s Asian Exhibition Council.

James Chia, Chairman of WEO, said, “We are delighted to have Marcel take on an expanded role. He will focus on the expansion of the WEO network by developing new events and acquiring show titles that will increase the group’s trade show portfolio in major growth markets such as the Middle East, India and China.”

IFFS/AFS 2007 ends on high note with US$240 million in spot orders

  IFFS/AFS 2007 which ended on 5 March achieved an attendance of 17,322 trade visitors from 117 countries at the recent five-day International Furniture Fair Singapore 2007 and 24th ASEAN Furniture Show which ended on. Once again, the best and varied mix of Asian furniture designs coupled with the participation of high-quality international exhibitors contributed to the success of the event which achieved an estimated US$240 million of spot orders. Perfect matches at IT&CM China 2007
  It was business aplenty at the inaugural Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings (IT&CM) China. Held at Intex Shanghai from 23 to 25 April 2007, the event had been hailed a success by participants, many of whom have already made space reservations for next year’s showcase at Shanghai Mart. This international platform for the MICE industry helped match 150 exhibiting companies from 22 countries, with over 200 buyers from 35 countries.

Roaring success for Integrated Systems China’s Beijing debut
  The premier audiovisual and electronic systems communications integration industry in Asia, Integrated Systems China 2007 had a roaring start when it made its debut in the Chinese capital. Its previous events were held in Shanghai. The exhibition showcased 194 exhibitors from 17 countries, up 33 percent from the previous event in Shanghai. It attracted 8,155 visitors over the three-day period and was well-received by exhibitors and visitors sourcing new business contacts and potentials deals. It was held at the Beijing Exhibition Centre from 25-27 April 2007.

The Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, in collaboration with Walailak University, will host the 33rd Congress on Science and Technology of Thailand (STT. 33) during October 18-20, 2007 at Walailak University in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The congress, built on the theme “Science and Technology for Global Sustainability”, also commemorates the auspicious 80th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King. The event is expected to draw more than 2,000 visitors and participants.
